OUR POLISH ROOTS

It has always been popular for dance groups to associate themselves with regions, historic places, or cities in Poland.

Since 1970 our dance troupe of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America chose a name that is associated with all the beauty, tradition and lively spirit of Poland – the Tatra Mountains. Part of the vast Carpathian mountain, which forms Poland southern border, the Tatry Region, with its chief city, Zakopane, is known as the winter capital of Poland. It shares with Warsaw, the capital of Poland, the distinction of being a must on any tour through the country.

In sharp contrast to the modern Metropolis with skyscrapers and lavish palaces, the Tarty Region embodies what is considered really Polish.Among the majestic mountain peaks, you’ll find craftsmen producing the fine woodcarvings of Poland. It is still the place to buy your sheepskin coat of Kozu, to see the thatched huts, fine embroidery and Polish hospitality. And it is, of course, the place of Poland’s most loved regional dance, The Goralski.
